It is not what you know but who you know when you are looking for a career. In most cases the people you know will bring you more information than you ever though possible if you only ask.
Believe it or not most careers are started because someone knows someone else that can help you achieve your goal. Because if this it is important for you to know more about what you want and where you see your self in the next few years.
When you have a solid career plan you will be able to move forward with your career faster because there will be people to help. Make solid connections with people by getting in touch with your “old” network. This may mean people who you grew up with or those who you went to high school or college with that you enjoyed.

Getting back in touch can be fun and it can be rewarding at the same time. You will want everyone you know to understand your career goals and you must ask them to keep an eye and an ear out for you. They may think of someone immediately or call you with someone’s name.
Make sure you understand your strengths and weaknesses because it will be important for you to be able to back up your resume and your knowledge. This will go far when people start the referral process.
Knowing how to make the right contacts and build new relationships will help you keep your career on track.
